  3. Resolved Question: Biased report about cancer?
  4. 23 May 2008 at 2:56pm
Does anyone else see the news reports released today about McCain being free of cancer as a thinly veiled attempt to tell people not to vote for him because he could die? I am not a McCain supporter, but I think that kind of coverage is shameful. The media is not saying McCain has cancer. Instead, they are saying the opposite but implying that he could get cancer. And then they mention that he has had cancer in the past. Shameful!

  5. Resolved Question: Religion causes war?
  6. 23 May 2008 at 12:40pm
I've never understood that. I think it's the ignorance of man that causes war. It's intolerance and injustice that cause war. Some call the war in Iraq a "holy war". I spent 18 months in Muslim Iraq. The people I met were some of the most beautiful, honest, and hard-working people I have ever known. Nothing about thier religion would ever cause me to even think about war. Forget about the media. All we hear about on the news is the very small percentage of extremists who give Muslims a bad name. Where would a person get the idea that religion causes war? Is it because of the shrapnel flying at us from the media? Is it Intolerance? What is your opinion? Trust me, extremists do in fact make up a small percentage of Muslim Iraq. Powerful, but still small. If you actually think the media brings it to you raw, then you've already been infected. All the life experience in the world couldn't amount to the experience of actually being in Muslim Iraq "defending" your country for 18 months at a time, then coming home to see the false portrayal of true Musilms on your local news...who's correspondants are 200 miles away from the actual event their reporting.

  7. Resolved Question: Rottweiler, mother-in-law, and baby....?
  8. 23 May 2008 at 9:36am
After 3 years of trying, I found out yesterday that I'm PREGNANT! (shameless plug..we are getting a baby for Christmas!) My mother in law's first reaction was.."you know you have to get rid of that dog now..right?" I have explained to her until I'm blue in the face that Xena will not be a threat to the baby, but she believes all the crap the media spews out. How can you convince someone who has been brain washed that the dog is not going to eat the baby as soon as we bring it in the house? (This is the only thing that's sucking the joy out of our good news.) LOL Tony! We have talked about buying her a condo in Florida..(we're in the midwest, think that's far enough?) Xena is two and half years old, has been through ob training, she's a very well mannered dog..I wish M-I-L was... Thanks for the Congrats, we are very excited...I like the idea of aggresstion therapy..but not for the dog..LOL

  10. 23 May 2008 at 9:17am

  11. Resolved Question: WHO REALLY WON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE In 2007 ? ?? ? ? ? ? ?...
  12. 23 May 2008 at 7:25am
According to a report which was heard said in some media today or last evening the European cup of 2007 was won by rights of fairplay by LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB. Apparently an impersonated player impersonated from the supposed winners was playing and scored goals. This so much amounts Fifa and Uefa to Award LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB the European cup of 2007. If anyone out there knows of this aspect of reality on television please let us know out there if you have came across any news. There are lots of ways of researching ie e-mails, search engines, television, radio. Thankyou Yours football As walking, when walking, well never walk alone. Fifa/Uefa

  13. Resolved Question: Italian crystal nights: Is this Europe 1938?
  14. 23 May 2008 at 3:53am
Last week we could see on TV once again the burning garbage in Napels. This can happen only in Italy and that makes us comfortable so that we can joke about it. But this was not the only burning fire, there was much more going on in Italy but unfortunately we haven?t seen much about it in Europe. Several big gypsy camps have been destroyed deliberately or went up in flames so that gypsies for sure couldn?t return. Nightly raids with molotov cocktails and baseball bats have done the job. The media has been very helpful creating an anti Roma atmosphere already for months(last summer the rape of an Italian women by a Romanian was front-page news for two months!) Who controls the European media? Who determines what is news and what is not? Nobody wants to touch the topic of media manipulation, not written press or TV. If you want to know WHAT has won the Italian elections and who controls OUR media... http://www.wikio.com/article/54654672

  16. 23 May 2008 at 3:07am
We read that Jon Gaunt at least understands and states what the majority of the general public think about the McCanns, and he should know his post bag is full of what REAL people think, not the mindless vetted well wishing that appears on the 'Find Madeleine' web site. Unfortunantly though Jon Gaunt does not seem to realise that there is currently a media blackout on McCann reporting. Is Gaunt now likely to find himself on the wrong end of a government media restriction notice ? or alternatively at odds with the McCanns powerful liable lawyers ? 18. 23 May 2008 at 12:02am
Every day I check my e-mail here, I see articles that make Barack Obama seem like the dream President who will save the country/world/universe, while John McCain is portrayed as an aggressive, grumpy old neocon collaborating with the evil Bush syndicate and perhaps the devil himself. Any rational person knows that this is not true, and if you believe this, you've been horribly deceived. It seems like whoever is picking the news articles is significantly biased towards the extreme left, like most of the mainstream media is nowadays. You'd think a Web 2.0 site would be better than that. Thumbs down Yahoo. Big thumbs down.

  19. Resolved Question: media reporting objectively and NOT reporting objectively?
  20. 22 May 2008 at 11:32pm
Can someone provide me with an example of media reporting objectively and an example of the media not reporting objectively? If i was to mention about the war on iraq and that some of the news channels like the BBC and CNN report live, show whats happened lately, show real facts and don't try and fancy it up to make politicians better....would that come as being objective or not?

Just to remind you what it's all about, check out this pic... http://www.baltimoresun.com/media/photo/2008-05/38805900.jpg As I watched that commercial on the tube where the Chrysler Corporation guarantee gas at $2.99 a gallon! For three years! http://fun.sniperslive.com/chrysler-to-guarantee-gas-at-299-a-gallon-for-three-years- 2/ The thought occurred to me that since the Oil moguls appearing on Capitol Hill this week are pretty much saying: "Not our fault." while they pocket huge record-breaking profits. NOTE: Exxon shatters profit records Oil giant makes corporate history by booking $11.7 billion in quarterly profit; earns $1,300 a second in 2007. http://money.cnn.com/2008/02/01/news/companies/exxon_earnings/ The thought occurred to me whether Congress could somehow declare a "State of Emergency" with justification being that of a pending and rapidly approaching "National Crisis" to somehow force the oil companies to rebate Americans anything they pay over $2.99 per gallon? I realize my idea is nothing more than a "Flight of Fancy" but, considering they make $1,300 a second, wouldn't it be great if they could show their patriotism and love of country by sharing some of that profit by giving some of it back to America? Ok, it was just a thought.

  46. 22 May 2008 at 12:38pm
impose their personal views on me in a obvious and biased manner. I feel that certain events in our past have led the news media to feel they have more power than they actually do because intelligent individuals will eventually get tired of them and only turn their television sets off. Even those individuals who share their views can not be so dim-witted as to want to be spoon fed the garbage that comes out of the media's mouth. What do you think?

  47. Resolved Question: For all the Clinton, mow McCain supporters?
  48. 22 May 2008 at 12:24pm
For these Clinton voters who say they'll vote for McCain (which I know some of them are really Republicans in disguise trying to convince true Clinton voters to go with McCain), if you're voting for McCain rather than Obama because of his lack of experience, what was your justification for ever voting for Clinton? McCain?s public service predates both of theirs and was far more intensive. Shouldn't McCain have been your first choice? If it is because you feel "disenfranchised", how so? Was anyone calling for Clinton to leave the race before it became a numerical impossibility for her to beat him in the delegate count? Media bias? Like Fox news doesn't have 24 news cycles covering wrights every last move, and have his initials BHO, constantly reminding you his middle name is Hussein. Wright? Because McCain isn't endorsed by people who called 9/11 punishment for homosexuals. Chickens coming home to roost is terrible, but at least backed by Michael Scheuer, 22 year CIA veteran.

biased views on the political front and do not ever, and I mean ever actually report the news as it is happening in the political arena. And just exactly what is their agenda and how much right do they think they have not to actually report the news. I am sick of them and the way they constantly have only panels feeding me what they think I should think or feel, I do not need to be constantly told how I feel and how I think or that not all the votes should be counted, once they were for Michigan and Florida votes to count and now not all the votes should count let's just declare Obama the winner.

  51. Resolved Question: HOW do you know when things are going well for the US and ...
  52. 22 May 2008 at 11:55am
When you see virtually nothing about it on your television screen or in the papers. When President George W. Bush announced a surge of US forces in Iraq, he was almost universally condemned as compounding already bungled and failed policies. In the first several months of 2007, the news seemed bad and the media were full of it, declaring it a failure and a disaster. But as things began to get better on the ground, events faded from our screens. Al-Qa'ida, which had controlled Sunni areas such as Anbar province, was virtually driven out. The same thing happened in and around Baghdad. Remaining al-Qa'ida forces retreated to the northern city of Mosul, where they are now under pressure from Iraqi and US forces. This extraordinary achievement, the virtual destruction of al-Qa'ida in Iraq, occurred in less than a year.

  53. Resolved Question: Do you believe everything the media reports?
  54. 22 May 2008 at 11:39am
Meaning like news and stuff. I've heard from various sources that the media in the UK is controlled by the the UK goverment which explains a lot of things. For example: the BBC is controlled by the Labour party and is anti-Conservative. The BBC is probably the worst for twisting different stories. Sky News isn't quite so bad. The daily mail is questionable the Sun is Pro-Labour. Sometimes I watch the BBC news, not to find out what has been happening in the world, But to find out how they put it. With stuff like the figures for UK immigration I'm not sure who was to blame for that but I would be tempted to blame the government and the media. The media in the UK is part of the National Union of Journalists meaning that they can only report what the goverment wants the people to know and not what they don't want the people to know. But anyway back to the question. Do you believe what the media reports?

  55. Resolved Question: the misunderstood rottweiler?
  56. 22 May 2008 at 11:31am
this is probably old news to most but with the rottweiler made out to be the badboy of the dog world by the media, what do you think of this? my friend had a website that listed dogs from smartest to dumbest and I was so surprised that the Rottweiler ranked number 9 for most intelligent dog(they judged this by what % the dogs listen to commands the first time, and by how many tries it takes to teach them a new command) Also everything I read about this breed suggests they are very loving and loyal. why do you think they have had so many attacks? is it because they're just the ones you hear about more (along with pit bulls) in the news? or is it because they are being bred badly and owned by more abusive owners than other breeds (besides pitbulls.) Or is it because their jaws can do more damage? please real answers! thanks.

  62. 22 May 2008 at 5:36am
The media spam our time with tonnes of global warming awareness events. They talk about it allot during the news(when ever there is a disaster that is blamable). The point is why are you still shouting out the message when we already know and heard about it a million times. It's annoying and repetative like my ex girlfriend that is true but advertising costs money and for the length of time i've heard these adds and spam go on for i don't think they could afford this

Rayofsun: Your argument is so unintelligable It is hard not to be knocked out cold by your reasoning. If McCain ran for President, not against Obama, but against Laura Bush, would anyone claim that she has more experience in the white house? Being the wife of a President makes you nothing more than the wife of a President. On that same topic, I bet if you would scold me if I said that I'm not voting for her because of her husband. You'd say Hillary isn't Bill. So why should she inheret the benefits of being former first lady and not the burdens? akanni23: Are you serious? Where do you get this stuff from? Never worked in the Senate? Poll's show that McCain is more "trustworthy" with Americans, so that makes it true? Never mind what policies mccain has, right? It doesn't matter that he's going to continue a war and more people get killed, right? It doesn't matter that he is going to continue economic policies that are so damning towards the vast majority of Americns, right? No, you're going to vote for someone based off you talk radio education. Wrights comments might have been hurtful and stupid, but placed in an intelligent context, are at least supported by logic. Can you make logic out of McCains supporters claims that America suffering 9/11 was "punishment" from God for tolerating homosexuality? People like you have no morals.

  71. Voting Question: why american media always makes India look like shithole?
  72. 21 May 2008 at 11:44pm
Why does American media (news/films) always make India look under-developed and backwards when it is actually modern and developing very fast? How often does American media portray the wealthy 420 MILLION middle class of India? Or the 112,000 millionaires and the 52 billionaires? They always seem to want to show the worst parts of the country. They only concentrate on the poverty...why so pessimistic all the time? India is a developing country but there are parts that are much BETTER than the U.S (believe it or not)...Some places, malls, clubs, bars, restaurants, etc, are unbelievable and of international standards....The Indian economy is booming right now...The lifestyle is also modern. People wear designer clothing and expensive brands from all over the world. Westernization is at its max right now (this can be good and bad). How come the American media never really shows this side of India? I hope the American public doesn't believe what they see.

I would also like anybody who's car was smashed by the so called POLICE when we went to picket a pit in Doncaster and when we called all the media about it and every big news paper at the time refused to come and take pictures WHY. I think the only paper that did come was the Socialist Worker. And why all the insurance company's refused to pay out on the car insurance WHY. People want to realy know what realy happend because the unions were crushed and this is why the country is now on its knee's. And us ex-miners are like every other true British workers strugling to make ends meet.

  75. Resolved Question: Why does the media DOWNPLAY news related to cloning?
  76. 21 May 2008 at 8:34pm
After seeing the news about dog-cloning on the Yahoo! homepage, I did some research and found that laboratories have been cloning dogs since 2005, and cats for long before that. With some more digging, I soon found that scientists have already successfully cloned THIRTY humans! Why isn't this information more wide-spread? I read magazines dedicated only to this sort of information and had no idea about any of this until now. This is definitely exciting news. Is the media trying to downplay it for some reason?

  80. 21 May 2008 at 6:57pm
Still Dead in Dallas By Phyllis Chesler Chesler Chronicles at Pajamas Media | Tuesday, May 20, 2008 Old News: The sisters, Sarah and Amina Said, are still dead; their father-murderer, Yasir Abdul Said, has not yet been found; the mainstream media continues its uncanny silence. What's New: The reward for Said's capture has been doubled and Tissy Said, his wife and the mother of the two murdered girls, has been ejected from the home of her extended Muslim family. Her beloved son, Islam, (from whom she would not willingly part), has been sent away from her. The Said family presumably want him to be "around a man" (his paternal uncle in New York City) and not around his mother. According to Tissy's great-aunt, the brave, outspoken, Gail Gartrell: "I feel Tissy is in grave danger from her own son. This is what I think his uncle is working through with Islam in New York. I fear his return. All the nieces and nephews in the Said family are accusing Tissy of this being her fault. They have turned on her. They blame her for allowing her daughters to see American boys. She has become the enemy. When I spoke to Tissy, she seemed more upset about this betrayal than about anything else. She told me she did not care if he (Islam? or Yaser?) killed her or not. Now, her spirit is broken since her Muslim family has walked away from her. Tissy told me that she wants to be buried next to her daughters." Tissy is an American citizen who is about 36-37 years old. She was married to Yaser at fifteen. Gartrell described being recently preyed upon by a local Texas reporter who said she was a private investigator-in an effort to gain access to Tissy. The ruse did not work but it sowed discord among family members. Gartrell and other great-aunts have, reportedly, been threatened online and warned not to write about this case. (One great-aunt was writing a book-she may no longer be doing so). Gartrell tells me that no one can save Tissy but Tissy herself. She has to "contact the police for help. A detective said the only way to protect her was if she would be willing to leave Islam and go into hiding! " Why is the media so disinterested? Their disinterest makes it harder for the police to find Yaser and encourages the next honor murderer to strike. Chances are, he will not be successfully pursued. Chances are, the world will not much care. What about the young boys who tried to save Sarah and Amina and who remain in hiding? The media silence endangers them more each day. These were two American Born Teenage girls living in Lewisville Texas. Normal teenagers. Who were shot multiple times by their Egyptian Father. American Citizens.

She's part of an alternative butch lesbian queercore band called Tribe 8. ridofme: Yep, I agree. There was a time when Courtney Love actually looked attractive. Sadly those days seem to be gone, along with her music career.

  83. Resolved Question: Why is it that in the American media, being "conservative"...

  85. Resolved Question: Hillary supporters: Do you now see the media bias that Rep...
  86. 21 May 2008 at 4:27pm
The truth is FOX news has given the fairest election coverage of Hillary out of all major news networks. Now I'm with you that this primary election isn't over until the fat lady sings, but it's also very clear, considering the way Hillary has been treated by the media, that the media is bias and has a liberal agenda. The more liberal you are the better you are painted and more coverage you get. What do you say? Hillary is the hardest candidate for McCain to beat. Obama is weak and the things brought out of his closet so far is just the tip of the ice berg. He'll never win. Zinjanith: I'd believe you if I knew you weren't reading bias books. You obviously support Obama. You also better do some research and maybe more prayer about who really owns major media company so it's not a surprise that it's bias towards Libs. My point is that the Republicans arguments have been vindicated by how they've been treating Hillary. Though a McCain supporter myself, if anyone was to beat McCain I would much rather have Hillary as a President than the whack job Obama. Hillary knows he's weak. So if Obama is nominated then I guess I should say thanks now for making this election so easy for Reps.

  87. Resolved Question: Why does the news make it sound like McCain is "going broke"?
  88. 21 May 2008 at 3:17pm
I am not a McCain fan by any stretch... and as far as I'm concerned, it's true that his donations are nothing compared to Obama's... But the media is totally ignoring 3 key factors: - Cindy has yet to reveal her income for our scrutiny like everyone else. - The GOP has tons of cash stocked up for just this sort of occassion. - McCain really does have MORE big corporate lobbyists in his campaign than any other candidate has... even the one's who are no longer running. Do you think this election is a slam-dunk for Obama and they just want to prolong McCain's agony as all the negatives in his campaign are slowly exposed? Will McCain end up spending the entire Bush fortune only to fail in his race against Obama? Do you think the Republicans even WANT to win this election? It's not going to be easy after Bush...

  89. Resolved Question: Why are no media outlets mentioning the Ted Kennedy Chappa...
  90. 21 May 2008 at 1:48pm
Senator Ted Kennedy recently discovered that he has a malignant tumor. All of the news coverage talks in glowing terms about the 46 year term Senator from Massachusettes, but none even mention the controversy surrounding his drunken auto accident that killed a young female companion in 1972. Why does the media tend to forget such egregious lack of character when discussing this current event? I guess if you're a member of a powerful family like the Kennedy's, you have a blank check from the liberal media. It was a bit of a loaded question: Clearly it is in bad taste to mention it in connection to the man's health. And in fact, it is an incredibly sad moment for him and his family. And I would certainly never utter 'good riddance' or any other such epithet given the circumstance. What I find disturbing is the rot at the center of that family. From Jack Kennedy's bootlegging during prohibition to the unmitigated philandering of the 'esteemed' JFK to the aforementioned Chappaquiddick event - a stunning (or seemingly) lack of moral compass in the DNA. It reminds me of that SNL skit with Will Ferrell, the drunken 5 pm cocktail New England elitists, slurring on their martini's and gin, 'summering' at the Cape and 'Wintering' somewhere warm, slowly wasting away inside. I just want to have leaders that truly inspire and live up to a higher standard - that's the point I am trying to convey - nothing to do with the man's unfortunate illness.

  91. Resolved Question: Why don't the L.A. Dodgers get any national media coverage?
  92. 21 May 2008 at 1:03pm
It seems as though teams in smaller markets get much more coverage; I notice the Brewers get a lot of attention. I also hear more news about the Orioles and the A's (to name a few) than I do about the Dodgers.

  93. Resolved Question: McCain looses an advisor ot Obama... does this mean Obama ...
  94. 21 May 2008 at 12:31pm
McCain has lost media consultant Mark McKinnon because McKinnon says he did not want to work against Obama. He thinks if Obama becomes president it, "would send a great message to the country and the world." Is this true? Is President Obama a great message to send to the world? Will more people depart McCain for Obama? Should Obama be our next president? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080521/ap_on_el_pr/mccain_adviser;_ylt=AifdkRmWHP.CVczhI yr0ZWxp24cA

  95. Resolved Question: Egyptians... Is there really a food shortage there or....?
  96. 21 May 2008 at 10:20am
I am just wondering what the conditions are really like regarding this food 'shortage'? (In general, I actually don't believe there is a global 'shortage' in food; just prices that are escalating for various reasons.) I am asking because when I have read articles/heard news stories there are talks of people in Egypt starving and rioting for food. These are non-specific articles and make it seem like all of Egypt is without anything to eat; they don't discuss specific areas. However when we talke to my husband's family they seem to be doing fine; they told us the problem was with the government subsidized food and those who recieve it. I am just wondering if the (Western) media is sensationalizing this - trying to induce panic. I am trying to determine if there really is a global food 'shortage' and if it really affecting Egypt on the wide scale as we are being told?

Anyone agree with Pink Floyd classic, "The Wall" @ thought control via 24x7 media etc? Is logic on the curriculum? Or do you feel browbeaten by constant multi-media barrage? Is there a parallel with news media becoming more & more superficial & sensational, exploiting crisis after crisis to keep you in fear, so you don't question anything? Are CGI special FX etc deliberately designed to dazzle & stop you thinking clearly? Any George Orwell fans not know he was high up in British Intelligence? Are his books - Animal Farm & 1984 - on English literature cyllabus? To end on Pink Floyd again.. Hello...Hello...Hello...Hello... Is there anybody out there? Can ya hear me? The lunatic is on the what?? C U on the Dark Side of the Moon??? I'm off to Preston, then Southport to lunch: CU there? Or back here in @ 4/5 hours maybe? Are you keeping score of how many questions-within-a-question give folk max choice @ which to answer? Just 2 funny 4 words?< >
